Workshop on Metadata Sharing for Small Labels, Libraries, and Collectors

Join us on 12 September 2025 at the House of Hungarian Music, Budapest for a hands-on workshop on how small labels, music libraries, and private collectors can connect their catalogues and archives to the new Open Music Europe / OpenMusE data sharing space.

We will show how the Slovak and Hungarian music data spaces — federated through the Open Music Observatory — make it easier to:

Share and repair metadata across archives, libraries, labels, and streaming platforms
Use identifiers (ISRC, ISWC, VIAF, etc.) to improve visibility and royalty distribution
Manage voluntary deposits and digital surrogates for private collections
Connect local catalogues to international platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Wikidata, MusicBrainz

Independent and small labels seeking better visibility in digital distribution
Music libraries and archives aiming for cross-platform metadata integration
Private collectors interested in digitising and sharing their holdings responsibly

Participation is free, but registration is required as places are limited. The language of the event is Hungarian. We appreciate if you write on the registration form a few sentences about what you collect, what type of collections you manage, and what is your primary interest.

About this Release

This technical paper is part of the Open Music Observatory under the Horizon Europe Open Music Europe project.
It presents an early framework for federated music registers and demonstrates how they can support rights management, cultural statistics, and business innovation.

The current edition describes the design principles and pilot implementations.
Future editions will extend the model with more data partners, stress-tested pipelines, and additional use cases.

Cooperation with the Slovak Ministry of Culture and Other Slovak Partners

Reprex signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, the Economic University of Bratislava, SOZA, and Sinus (on behalf of the Open Music Europe consortium) on utilizing the Open Policy Analysis results.

This cooperation is a very important milestone for our company: our reproducible research products will be used in an official national policy context in an EU member state. Our Slovak Music Industry Report has set a best practice within the Slovak Republic.

Our Smart Policy Documents will be used to create the Live Policy Document on Music Economy, on Diversity and Circulation,on Music and Society, and on Music Innovation in a national policy context. We will contribute with automatically refreshed web resources and high-quality indicators about cultural and creative industries, particularly music. Our work will be used to monitor the implementation of the Cultural and Creative Industries Strategy of the Slovak Republic 2030 Stratégia kultúry a kreatívneho priemyslu Slovenskej republiky 2030 national policy.

Reprex’s Smart Policy Documents technology will be used to monitor the national cultural and creative industry policies of the Slovak Republic. See Central Register of Contracts (in Slovak).

This will be the first high-profile national policy use of our Digital Music Observatory. Over the course of three years, in cooperation with our Slovak partners, we would like to persuade more and more national policymakers and also regional actors (like the city of Trenčín, the cultural capital of Europe in 2026) to use this collaborative open knowledge platform as a prototype of a European Music Observatory.
